June...

On the first Saturday in June, beginning at noon, registration for fall classes opens to current students and their siblings only, at our north Spokane studio.  Families have been known to line up as early as 5 am to ensure their spot in line, you may wish to keep this mind when making plans...:)   The following Monday registration for any remaining spaces opens to new students.

 July...

Summer Dance Camp is held, with classes offered for various ages and class levels! Most popular for ages 3-8 are our themed dance camps, such as "Cinderella Dance Camp", where the students enjoy dancing, crafts, snacks, and games, all with a Cinderella theme!

 August...

Our summer ballet camp will be held for our upper level students, with various classes including classical ballet, modern, yoga, strength and flexibility, injury prevention, and nutrition.  Also during this month, confirmations will be sent to those who have registered for fall classes.  Though few are available at this time, we also offer registration for any available openings for fall classes.  Orientation night is held for new students ages 9 and younger...:)

September...

Fall classes in Spokane begin immediately following Labor Day.  Later in the month, Nutcracker auditions are held for upper level students who wish to perform with Memphis Ballet in December...a wonderful opportunity!

October...

The studio closes at 5:30 on Halloween...Enjoy your treats, but don't get spooked!

November...

Our "Beyond the Barre" series begins for all ballet students enrolled in two or more classes per week.  This is a study of french terms, ballet teaching methods, choreographers, composers, history, characters, dancers, and master teachers.  This study will enrich our knowledge of the wide world of dance, outside the exercises we perform in class.  This study includes games and quizes to help us learn!

November also brings our Spokane sleepover for grades 5 and up...a fun evening, a night off for mom and dad, and a little dance education all at the same time!

Please note that we are closed on Thanksgiving and for the holiday weekend.  Enjoy this time with your families!

December...

Winter arrives!  Remember, that when Mead or Spokane School District closes due to weather conditions, we usually close as well.  Check our web site for updates when the weather gets crazy or when you hear of school closures, and you will know whether we are open or not (you may also call the studio, as we often have that info on our voicemail, but at times of bad weather it is possible that we cannot get there to change the voicemail, so it is best to check our web site or our blog).

In December, we order costumes for our spring performances.  Orders must be in by the 15th to be guaranteed a costume in time for our performances.

Dec. is also Nutcracker month, with the opportunity to attend the Spokane Nutcracker as a large group, and to see some of our students perform in the Nutcracker with the Memphis Ballet Company.  See Susie about getting our group tickets.  We also enjoy various Nutcracker activities in our ballet classes.  Our upper level students also perform in the Wishing Star Holiday Concert held at The Met in early December.

Please note that we are closed during Mead School District's Christmas break.  Sleep in, drink hot chocolate, rest up and revitalize during this break, so you will be full of energy for the bright new year ahead!

 January...

Happy New Year!

Performance Participation Forms are due by Jan. 31st.  If you want to perform in June, you must have this form turned in (It was given to you in Nov. in your performance packet).

 February...

Happy Valentines Day to all our dance families!  :)

 Spring...

The arrival of spring brings with it the beginning of preparations for our June performances. in Spokane  Please note that we are closed for Mead School District's spring break, which usually takes placethe last week of March into thefirst week of April.

June...

Photos will be taken in costume, usually during class the first week in June.  You will receive a packet with details.  On June 12th and 19th of 2010, we will celebrate our student accomplishments by hosting our school performances.  Our performances are professionally run but low-stress, and great fun for all who choose to participate!  All dancers (and parents who help) sit backstage and watch the entire performance from the wings, so no one has to miss a thing!  We also forego one five hour show, by holding several shorter (hooray!) performances.   We hold both matinee and evening performances...Please check your performance packet (sent home in mid-November) to see which performance you are participating in!

We hope you will join us for a year full of fun!
